Of course I would LOVE a good preamp and a good mic. At this point all I can say is thank God for 24bit. At some points he calms down (point at which he stops facing the mic), and at some points he is ready to blast the mic diaphragm away (of course for "important points" in the script like these, he faces the mic). It's got too much high mid's, there's something that really hits my ears after recording it, with a tad of muddiness and boom when I try to give him lows.Īlso, the guy just can't keep facing the mic while he records cuz he moves his head so much (he starts sounding boring when he's sitting or standing still).Īnd he's got dynamics from hell when he reads the script. Given my reality, are there any pointers as far as eq'ing radio voices? I realize that is a nearly impossible question to answer, but let me describe his voice a bit.
As far as plug ins go, I got DigiRack and BombFactory's 1176 and LA2A (got SansAmp too, but I don't think that's going to be any good for his voice). Here is what my less-fortunate reality looks like. So it made sense to them that he should be the voice for the 15 minute programs. The guy I am recording gives leadership training for companies (mainly talking about leadership skills to a country with very high corruption and fatalistic worldview, for those who care), and he is very energetic. Part of my time I devote to recording a radio program for a local leadership institute.
